Prior to my teaching position at Venture Academy I have worked within education for almost twenty years.
As a Specialist ASD Practitioner, I have worked alongside children and young adults with Special Educational Needs within a range of settings including Primary, Secondary and Post 16 across both mainstream, special and alternative provisions.
In 2019, I decided to return to further education myself and embark on a journey to achieve a First Class Honours Degree in Special Education Needs and Inclusive Practice. I have since been awarded a PGCE with SEND Specialism.
I feel very honoured and privileged to be part of the Macintyre Academy Trust and have been welcomed into the Venture Academy family to pursue my career in teaching.
One of my biggest passions and past-times is my love of the outdoors! I am an avid camper and have been heavily involved in co-ordinating and assessing expeditions for the Duke of Edinburgh Award within previous settings of employment.
I feel very lucky to be co-ordinating Forest School activities and BTEC Land-based Studies within the bespoke curriculum at Venture Academy. I am intrinsically rewarded by pushing young people out of their comfort zones and enjoy teaching the necessary life skills to challenge, build confidence and engage pupils in a holistic approach to life-long learning through discovery and experimentation.
This leads me onto sharing one of my favourite and most inspirational quotes for teaching: “I never teach my pupils, I only provide the conditions in which they can learn” Albert Einstein 1879-1955
